necessary percussion toyMay 01, 2009
By L. Parks I'm an adult percussionist in a concert band and purchased this "toy" to complete & enhance the percussion score for a number we performed in a recent concert. That's the benefit of being a percussionist, oh what toys we get to play with! ;) This slide whistle is very well made & I don't need to worry about it getting banged around, it's not going to break. It has very good tonal quality as well and I was able to easily match the bands' tuning note. A quality instrument!

Great quality slide whistle - more like an intrument - worth the extraAug 01, 2008

"Yep, it's me"
This is a excellent quality slide whistle. It's made in the USA and even though it is a little pricey it is something I think will last as long as you don't lose it. I can't imagine wearing it out. Heavy nickel plating makes it durable and shiny. A couple of octive range. Slide is a little firm so might be harder for childred (under 5) to control at first. Great little whistle with a nice sound. Not so much a Toy as a beginning musical instrument. I Recommend it

Good but...Sep 10, 2010
By Bob The Builder The highest note is airy sounding and needs adjustment but the medium and low notes are perfect. The durability of this is great! The slide is very long so I do not sugest that this is to be handled by small children. Overall it is a good product and worth the cost.

Birthday gift is a hit!Jul 14, 2009

When I asked my grandsons what they would like for their birthdays, they immediately said, "a slide whistle." After looking at several different kinds on Amazon.com, I saw this whistle. I was impressed with how sturdy it was. Once the boys opened their gifts, they were whistling away. The whistle has a great sound and it even came with some music instructions. This is not just a toy, but a musical instrument. I am one satisfied customer, and the boys are enjoying their whistles too.

Probably needs tweakingAug 22, 2009
By J. M. Nelson The mouthpiece was imprecisely stamped and bent, and the blade - the part that splits the air stream - had a rough edge, making it difficult to play and impossible at the low end. Grinding it smooth made it playable, but it remained difficult to control. The wind way was uneven as well, but much more difficult to modify. I purchased two, and one would hardly play at all. If you get one, be prepared to grind/file and perhaps hammer - as the whistle makers say, "tweak" - and don't expect much from it save stereotypical, uneven, imprecise glissandos. As an amateur musician and maker of penny-whistles, I find this item more suitable as a defensive weapon than a precision musical instrument, or, perhaps, I simply don't understand slide whistles.
