5A versatile learning toolFeb 17, 2011
By Crestviewer
I recently purchased these because I am going to start doing some preschool activities at home with my three year old. I debated between getting the 50 counting bears with cups (also by eureka) and these. I decided to get these for four reasons:
1. There are more counters (100 instead of 50)
2. There are five animals instead of just one
3. I have enough "cups" around for sorting
4. They were actually a little cheaper when I purchased them

I am extremely happy with the purchase. Both my three year old and my 15 month have played with these several times in several different ways - that is what I really like about this toy is that it is versatile and can be used for teaching many different skills. It can be used for sorting (either by color or my animal), for counting, adding and subtracting and it can also be used to make patterns.

5Animal CountersAug 30, 2010
By Sara
My 3 year old daughter loves to sort, count, and play with these animals. We had a small collection of the bears and wanted to add more to our collection. Having several animals - not just bears - is definately more fun. We gave them to her for her 3rd birthday and it was the first toy that she wanted to open.

5Cute, smaller setDec 28, 2010
By Dr. Mommy
For some reason, I thought the individual toys would be larger in size (my mistake - I should have read the description closer). There is a larger set of these toys that contains larger animals (primarily bears) and smaller animals. This tub contains 100 of the smaller animals. Although we bought this for our 3-year-old, our 5-year-old enjoys it as well. This is a great educational toy. Each of the animals is made of durable quality plastic. The molds aren't "cheap" like some products like these that have the edges of the mold showing. This is a nice product and the kids love it.

My daughter liked this toy more than any other... she plays constantly with these little animals... this was a filler present for her and instead was the hit of the holidays! she counts them, sorts them, and makes "soup"... too cute

51-2...it's a zoo. 3-4...the kids want more. 5-6...it's quite a mix. 7-8...they're really great. 9-10...I'd buy it again!Jun 13, 2011
By Hollee Saville "mommy, childcare provider, and more"
As an early childhood educator for the past 20 years and childcare provider, I strive to find toys and activities that will have the greatest impact on our children's development, ones that will be fun, educational, and worth their cost. This tub of animal counters is awesome...an incredible deal for the amount of animals included. The sturdy storage container is a bonus. The kids love sorting/classifying by color, size, animal, foods they eat (carnivore/herbivore/omnivore), where they live, etc. Who knew they could get all of that from a simple tub of animals?! I give them 6 and 12-muffin pans to use for sorting in our math center and they love them. They are durable and the kids like the variety. I have a small pair of tongs that they can use, too (builds their fine muscles even more than this set already does). I've purchased 6 other sets from more expensive educational stores, but I prefer these because they're not flexible and there are a lot more items included in this set for less than half the cost! If you are a childcare provider, teacher (I'd say K & 1st would be best), or parent of 2-8-year olds (who wouldn't put them in their mouths), this is a wonderful set to hone their counting, sorting, visual discrimination, and fine motor skills.
