2Sun stops playing musicOct 11, 2009
By B. P. Boswell "tech geek"
Our two month old son loved this play gym, however it has now lost much of its appeal to him. It is because the sun has stopped playing the music (the lights still blink...). I noticed the audio from the sun started getting extremely distorted before it quit working all together (I thought the batteries were just going dead, but changing the batteries did not help).

EDIT: To Kids II, Inc's credit, they did ship us a new sun, no questions asked (except for the purchase date and the date codes on the sun we had), which seems to be working well, along with a 10% off coupon on a future purchase at the Kids II website.

2It's great until the star stopsFeb 19, 2009
By Asher'sMom
The baby really loves this item, unfortunately less than a month after he received it, the star started playing off tune and then stopped playing altogether. We contacted the company, they made us send back our gym, they shipped out a new gym. The star on the new gym lasted two days.

2Star stopped playing music after a couple of weeksJan 27, 2009
By Prairieman66 "Mnprairie04"
My daughter loves to be able to touch the toys dangling from the frame. But the star stopped playing music a couple after we started using it. The lights seem to work. Just NO music. I have emailed the company about the issue.

5The perfect toyJan 19, 2009
By A. M. Lighter "renaissance woman"
Just to describe this a little better, it comes with seven toys to hang from the bars: a duck, a cardinal containing a bell perched on a ring with beads, a sunshine with dangling rattle, an apple teething toy filled with water so you can freeze it if you want, two plastic discs with photos of a puppy and a duckling, a mirror, and a star that plays music and lights up. It comes with extra links so you can add some of your own toys, too, and there are hanging loops at the top, middle, and bottom of the bars. The mat itself is brightly colored, has a satiny sort of finish, and is nicely padded and breathable.

Issues:
The mirror itself is plastic-y and curved a bit so the reflection is a bit distorted. Doesn't seem to bother her in the least.

The star's lights were a little frenetic for her with certain songs at first, but she loved it by 10 weeks old.

The mat's fabric shows drool stains, but that doesn't bother me personally.

The upshot:
We love this toy. Our daughter started with it when she was about 7 weeks old and was immediately delighted with it. In the ensuing weeks we found that she would be interested in different parts of it at different times, but at 10 weeks she would happily lay under it for 30 minutes at a time... or more. We rotate the hanging toys through and always take one with us when we go out. In short, this is the one indispensable toy we own and I'd recommend it highly.

1Ah, so it happens to everyone!Dec 12, 2009
By P. Cross
My son is ten weeks old as of this writing. We received this activity gym as a shower gift and began using it sparingly when he was a couple of weeks old (he wasn't too interested in it yet). The good news is that in the last few weeks, it's come to be his favorite thing. It's just about the only thing that gives me any ability to put him down during the day and, say, eat a snack. But I suppose I should be using the past tense, because as of yesterday, the music on the star stopped playing. Same story as the others. A few days ago, the music got raspy. Then it stopped. I changed the batteries. The music started again then quit after half a day. Now, after numerous battery changes, it's a no go. My son has almost no interest in the mat now without the music. I've emailed Baby Einstein, so I'm hoping to get a replacement star that will hopefully hold for a few more weeks until I'll probably have to write them again. I suppose in the meantime, I will keep my eyes out for a more durable activity gym.
