Helpful....Sep 18, 2009
By S. McElroy My daughter has PDD-NOS and chews on everything. Our main worry was her chewing on her friends toys. When we go out we always make sure she is wearing her "necklace". Everytime she gets the urge to chew we remind her to chew on the necklace. It doesn't always work but it does help.

Good Idea, but . . .Jul 21, 2009
By A. Radabaugh I have a 5-year-old with sensory issues and she has a great need to chew on things. I thought this would be perfect for her. However, the material is not pliable enough for it to satisfy that chewing need. The necklace does pull the hair on her neck (someone else mentioned this as well) so it never gets worn. One day not long after we had them, I had a fright to see her have the entire bracelet in her mouth just chewing away (that's what it's for). I think it's dangerous. I would not recommend this product. The chewy tubes are a much better option for chewing issues.

chewable kids jewelryJul 10, 2009
By Charles M. Daly Jr. Product is great in concept. The problem that I have is that my son still wants to put other things in his mouth. We have told him it's ok to put this jewelry in his mouth and he chooses not to.

Helped my son stop biting his nailsMay 17, 2011
By jillyville My 4 1/2 year old son started biting his nails out of the blue, and within weeks his nails looked horrible and he was biting them all the time. I wanted to find a diversion for his need to chew on something and so I found this "chewelry" that was not really intended for this purpose, but which could divert the undesired behavior. Flash forward a few weeks - my son loved the necklace and bracelet and I allowed him to wear them to school (with permission from his teachers). Whenever he would start biting his nails he was asked to try and chew on his necklace and bracelet. He stopped biting his nails completely and they've all grown back. This is a great product that helped nip a bad habit right in the bud by simply offering him a readily available alternative to nail-biting. I've never reviewed a product review but I feel really strongly about this one.

not the miracle we were hoping forMay 14, 2011
By KELLY COPE Our seven year old chews everything! We finally heard about chewelry and hoped that it would help make a difference. He wasn't too excited about wearing it, saying that other kids might laugh at him. The first day he wore it, he broke it where the seam is (we had a feeling that would happen, he picks at imperfections). I've been able to put it back together in a manner so that it's still wearable, but occasionally it still comes undone when he's not careful. He does not prefer chewing on this and sometimes still wants to chew on his bed or on woodchips (these are what he chewed predominantly before). We are reminding him to chew on his necklace and it seems like he's now learning to go to it first. We'd recommend this product, but don't think it will solve all your problems for these special little children, they still need a lot of prompting and gentle guidance to deal with their issues.
