He is a bigger boy for his age but has a hard time reaching to the end to turn it while holding it to his face. If we help him, he enjoys it for less than a minute. He dropped it once and the tin dented but doesn't interfere with its viewing. He really enjoys playing with it. My husband was very impressed with the quality and the bead selection inside of it, there's this "s" shaped bead that really makes for some unique results. My son really loves curious george and was really happy play with this toy. He uses it in pretend pirate play quite often. It is fairly durable, but it can get squished if it is accidentally stepped on by invading pirates. The kaleidoscope itself is very colorful and of a nice size. It is beautiful to look at when you use it. It's a great purchase.
