Keeps my 2 year-old happy and engaged for long stretchesJan 20, 2011

My two year-old daughter is a huge fan of this felt board. I especially love that the subject of this board is birthday parties. Prior to playing with this board, my daughter had been a little out of sorts at birthday parties (she didn't quite understand the concept, the candle-blowing, the commotion, the singing, the present opening, the attention on the birthday kid, etc) and this board helped her understand and even get excited about attending parties. When we enter a birthday party now, she identifies all the components (the balloons, the cake, the pinata, the presents) and feels so confident in that environment because she plays with those items on this felt board all the time. She creates entire worlds when she plays with this board. She pretends to be the birthday girl and imagines that she's blowing out the candles, she pretends to be a guest and hands a present to the host, etc. She's usually a quiet child, but with this toy, she's so chatty and imaginative. I love watching her play with it, and as a bonus, it keeps her occupied for long stretches while I'm making dinner (and is a much better distraction than the TV). Highly recommend for imaginative play and social skills. I'm off to purchase other felt boards now!
