1Don't waste your moneyJul 09, 2008
By C. Shirk
I saw this product recommended in Family Fun magazine and thought it would be a fun game for the pool.

I ordered 2 Hot Potato Splash games - one as a gift and one for my children. My children (ages 4 and 7) played with their game in the pool for only 2 days and it is already broken. The foam face where you press the button has already split and the toy is filled with water, so now it doesn't work. I actually feel bad that I already gave one away as a gift.

What a disappointment. [...] bucks (including the tax and shipping) on 2 games, that only last a couple days each, was such a waste of money.

2Hot Potato Pool GameJul 31, 2008
By Mrs. Sarah E. Hernandez
The Hot Potato pool game was a lot of fun for the short time it actually worked. We owned the product for two weeks before it stopped working. We used it in the pool 3 times and after the 3rd time it stoppped playing the music. We waited until it was thoroughily dried out to see if it would work again, but it didn't. I did write an email to Highlights asking if this was a common problem, but that was almost two weeks ago and I still haven't received a response from them. If you don't mind paying almost $[...] with shipping for a pool game that stops working when it gets wet then I suggest buying this game.

My kids used this in the pool with their friends and we couldn't get them out. Really a fun product.

1Didn't work within first 10 minutes of use!!!(on Christmas)Dec 30, 2011

My grandson opened this Christmas morning and family began a circle and was tossing it around as a game and within 10 minutes it just quit working and no way to fix it. Wouldn't buy it again!

This is basically a foam toy that plays music. It stops randomly.

I bought this with no intention to use in a pool. I chose this one over the fabric one because this one had better reviews. Honestly, I dont think it makes much difference. We might use it in a pool, but for now, just in the house.

First, I have to say that this toy is LOUD. I had to put duct tape over the speaker in the back because it is so loud. It says it includes irreplaceable batteries. Meaning that when the batteries die, so does the toy. I'm a little miffed about that as you have no idea how often people were "trying" the item in the store. And it doesn't really say how long the batteries will last.

My kids thought it was a really cool toy, for about 10 min. Now it's laying around somewhere. Maybe they'll pick it up again some time, but for now it's just another toy taking up space.

The music isn't so bad as far as musical toys go. It's annoying but not so bad. After the music finishes, if you leave it out and dont touch it, it shouts "AGAIN! AGAIN!" That is annoying. VERY annoying. You put it away and think you can play something else and suddenly your toy box shouts "AGAIN!"

I wouldnt buy this again. It's cute, but get it on ebay for cheap. It's not worth over ten bucks.
