Superb for fantasy miniature games!Oct 15, 2011
By B. Laue I purchased this toy locally, to save on shipping fees. It is perfect for tabletop fantasy miniatures games, whether they be role-playing games, or skirmish/mass battles games. This figure is beautiful, as is, no painting required, before plopping it down onto the battlefield. If you prefer a more white dragon, for the traditional looking, D&D type, just drybrush with additional white on it (it already is drybrushed with white, but the underlying blue-white is quite dominant), and you will have it.
The figure is about 6", front to back, and 5-1/2" from top to bottom. It is nicely sized for 15-28mm scale figures, such as Mage Knight, and Games Workshop figures, as well as all of the other manufacturers figures.
For all other, non-wargaming, non-RPG, applications, such as using it for a child's toy, it is quite durable, very beautifully painted, and sculpted. The plastic is firm, but it does flex some. The eyes are painted with slit pupils, and its face may be too scary for younger children. Other than that, is is quite a sharp dragon figure, suitable for collectors, dragon enthusiasts, RPG'ers, and fantasy wargamers alike. Cheers!
My favourite Safari Ltd modelMay 04, 2012
By Nom de Plume I concur with B. Laue's review, but have a few things to add.
The plastic on this piece is fairly flexible, more so than some of Safari's other pieces (the "Fire Dragon" is much more rigid, even in places of comparable thickness), but ought not break or deform under even rough use.
Aesthetically, this is my favourite piece from Safari; it is neither gaudy, static, nor weak-looking (it looks particularly awesome when stood up on its tail and hind legs). The detail of the sculpt is slightly less than the "Fire Dragon", but more detailed than the less expensive models like the "Green Dragon" and "Red Dragon". The details are well-done; the tongue is pronged, the roof of the mouth is ribbed, the vertebræ spines are ridged, and even the webbing between the claws is detailed. I was most impressed with the quality of the paint job, though - the eyes are very well done (there is both a red iris and a black slit pupil), and the teeth and mouth were painted very well. All of the paint seemed to be in its right place.
The width dimensions are 4.5" at the top of the wings, and 2.5" at the feet. I also intend to use mine for wargaming (at the 1/72 scale [25mm]); I plan to mount it to a 4" plastic disc, the smallest size the foot placement will accommodate.
For some reason, my model does not have either a copyright, CE (Conformité Européenne) mark, or a "made in country" designation on the bottom. I haven't died yet, so it must be okay regardless.
This Is A GREAT ToyApr 04, 2012
I got this ice dragon for christmass, he makes a great battle dragon with Safari's red Asian dragon. me and my friend often fight over who gets to be him XD

Ice Dragon ReviewSep 06, 2011
Gift was for grandson, who loves the figures that we purchased. Plays with them all of the time. I personally have no experience with the figures.
