The strong chemical smell was so bad it was burning my nose. I opened up the windows, but the smell was still really strong. I will leave it outside in the garage for a week or two and see if it reduces the odor. *UPDATE* We have had the ball for a couple months now and I'm happy to report that the offending smell is almost completely gone.
