1Alex Loop n Looms MELT!Dec 21, 2007
By L. Nolan
Alex loop n loom potholder loops melt!

They make pretty potholders and are easy to use. Colors are nice...

Just don't use them as potholders because they will melt, leaving colorful plastic residue sticking to your pots and pans! They will stick to themselves (when melting) and burn.

Use wool or cotton loops.

These are great for the bottle cap necklaces. Just loop a washer onto it and glue magnet on back of decorated bottle caps.

4Way overpricedDec 10, 2010

Ordered these for my kids to make bottle cap necklaces. Yes they stretch over your head. After I ordered them I found a Rose Arts loom with the same loops (120) for $5 at Michaels. These work fine, but they make for expensive potholders at over $.10 a loop from Alex. The nylon ones are definitely easier to use (cotton ones will not work for bottle cap necklaces since they do not stretch enough and come in random sizes.) but shop around for the nylon ones and see if you can find them in a kit in the kids craft department in some of the big stores.

Great developmental activity for kids; Bright colors; Does melt a bit when hot items placed on them so, not really a functional "pot holder".

5I used this when I was a childDec 22, 2007

I gave a loom and these refiles to my neighbors grandchild. I used them when I was a child (I'm in my 60's) and it was a big hit. A tried and true activity for those who like to make things. Helps develop good hand eye coordination (which leads to better attention span and ability to read and right).
