My daughter just turned two and through the use of these puzzles and our encouragement, she can recognize all the letters and numbers and will bring them to us and tell us "it's a 'y' mama." We're working now, on counting the items underneath each number and doing "A for Apple". She's having so much fun and learning so much all at the same time.

I'd recommend any puzzles by Melissa and Doug. Our son loves them. He has mastered them all. We own over 20 puzzles like this, and he just has a blast with them. He just turned 2.

The description mentions 3 puzzles, but only two are ever shown or discussed. The letters and numbers are great, but I am excited to find that it also comes with a fish puzzle for learning colors. We already owned this particular puzzle; however, my younger daughter "ate" the fish tails, so it is a wonderful surprise to find we have a replacement puzzle.
Melissa and Doug toys are excellent. The one time I have had to call customer service, they were wonderful and sent out the piece that had been missing from our magnet set.

I bought this puzzle set for my 2 1/2 year old. The quality is excellent and daughter has enjoyed this toy since day one. I would definitely recommend this. A great way to start learning the alphabet and numbers.

With promises of all-wood construction, why do the tops of these puzzle pieces have colored paper glued onto them instead of paint directly applied to the wood? I love Melissa and Doug products. HOWEVER, do not let your child put one of the puzzle pieces in his or her mouth b/c the colored portion of the piece will quickly wear away.
