Good EnoughNov 13, 2006
By Amy We bought this puzzle for our 28 month old son. He loves anything with wheels and enjoys playing with this. He loves it when we jumble the pieces on the floor and then ask him to find and put a particular vehicle back on the board. The only problem we have is that the sound does not work at all. It worked for maybe the first 5 minutes of play. This is not a big deal to him, but it made the puzzle not worth the $10 we paid for it.

A quick parental sanity checkDec 31, 2008
By M. Fitzhugh I rarely write product reviews, but wanted to just take a quick moment to reiterate the importance of not installing batteries in this puzzle. It's infernal. The photosenors which trigger the sounds are super-sensitive. At the slightest casting of a shadow, you'll find yourself listening to a parade of roaring motorcycles or a honking truck. Spare yourself. For the love of sanity!

Better without batteriesApr 05, 2007
By NYCmom We usually love Melissa & Doug products, like Band in a Box. This puzzle itself is fine, but the sound is HORRID. Maybe a 2 or 3 year old boy wouldn't mind or can ignore it, but my 1 year old daughter was so scared of the noises that she cried in fear until I removed the batteries. I realize she is too young for puzzles, but I was just testing it, and even I cringed when I heard the noises! They sound more like noises that should be on a mechanical alien monster. My daughter had some fun with the puzzle without the sound.

Sounds are Terrible and will make Noises at RandomOct 08, 2010
By Sadie The puzzle will go off and make vehicle noises at random, even in the middle of the night. This has been going on for months. Also, a vehicle will make noises even if a piece is placed on top of an incorrect cut out space. I don't mind noisy toys but this one is frustrating. I would much prefer a silent puzzle. I don't recommend this puzzle at all.

Poltergeist sounds, but my son loves it!Feb 10, 2010
By HaDice My 18 month old son got this puzzle for Christmas and LOVES it. He is obsessed with transportation objects, and the sounds make him giggle with delight. Yes, it will grate on an adult's nerves after repeated use! One major flaw is that any puzzle piece will activate any of the sounds, even if they don't match. On the other hand, this puzzle is easier for younger toddlers because the picture of the object is on the puzzle piece and the spot where it goes, not just an empty shape. This puzzle is scary to me because one night after the toddler had gone to bed, I was locking up and turning off lights and the puzzle started making noises on it's own. After several different occasions on this happening at night, I finally figured out the if any of the pieces are left out of place, the sound is triggered by lights turning off. Freaked me out and it still does. Lesson: put the pieces away unless you want a fright at night!
