Didn't enjoy productJan 14, 2008
By KR Pennington We gave our daughter two different Moon Sand kits for Christmas. She played with the Neighborhood kit Christmas night for all of 10 minutes, then decided that she didn't like it. It was very messy. The plastic placemat that comes with it is not large enough to hold all the parts & the sand so sand ended up everywhere. Not recommended to use indoors unless a larger sheet or plastic covering used. The sand also does not hold shape as well as advertised. Overall bad purchase for us.

Prepare for the MessJul 30, 2008
By Nuknuk Got this as a gift for our son. It is an artificial sand complete with molds and tools plus some added little toys. The sand have pretty candy colors and are very attractive. But it is frustrating for little kids trying themselves to create critters with the molds as the sand crumbles very easily. It needs some help from grown-ups to press the mold harder to make a press. Still, once they hold them with their hands they crumbles.
It is just no way you can have this toy played inside the house especially near carpets or your couch. Be prepared for a big mess.

Horrible and MessyDec 26, 2007
By dela We got this for Christmas for my 5 year old sister. I had to hide it before her younger nephew (3) came in because I was afraid of the mess it would make. It really is just an oddly shaped box of sand with a bunch of plastic molds. She cried and got frustrated because she could not pick up the shapes. It got on the fabric of the kitchen chair and would not come off. I had to dust her off and follow her around with a dustbuster. Took forever to clean up all the sand and put it in a ziploc bag (directions suggest you put it back in the junky plastic bag they supply) What a horrible toy! Might be ok for outside at a picnic table or on the ground. I hope this toy dissappears from the market!

Love it!!Dec 11, 2007

We love Moon Sand. My son has 5 different sets now and doesn't get tired of them. I've seen other complaints about it being messy. Two minutes with the vacuum cleans up anything my son gets on the floor, if he spills any. He's great about keeping the sand in the inflatable sandboxes.

Worst Product EverAug 22, 2008
By Mom of Three Girls I am very tolerant when it comes to tactile toys and messy toys, but I actually threw this one away after only using it once! It gets in every crevice and crack that is around. Plus it gets in the bottom of your shoes and gets tracked around the house. I had to strip my daughter and put her in the bath to clean up. Then I had to vacuum and mop the floor. This sand is so fine that gets everywhere. I much prefer playing with paint and small beads than this stuff. For something really fun and tactile, get a bag of rice (or small pasta) and funnels and measuring cups. The little ones like playing with it. You can also glue it down with colored glue. Cleaning up the spilled rice is super easy compared to Moon Sand.
