Fun family time!Jan 05, 2010
By H. E. Q. Lane We bought these for our 5-year-old received these for Christmas -- a big hit! The cards are really high quality and durable. The illustrations are sweet and funny, just right for inspiring some good, wacky, nonsensical, mysterious -- you name it -- stories. As our 5-year-old is just learning to read, these have given her some new ways to think about storytelling and to build those cognitive skills as she develops her reading skills. Our 7-year-old is an avid storyteller and is enjoying them, too. Even our 2 1/2-year-old loves the pictures (she thinks the owl dressed in a police officer's hat talking to squirrels in a tree is hilarious). We know she will grow into these further, and the quality means they'll have some staying power. Highly recommended for good family fun and alone-time play that builds storytelling skills.

Good concept to mix up story timeSep 05, 2010
By jakesmom I bought these for my four year old daughter, as she has a very active imagination and loves to pretend play. The cards are lovely water color drawings on nice, heavy cardstock. They come in a neat little box with tray that slides in and out. The fist time we opened them, it took a little bit of time for her to get the hang of making up a story, but she got better with it as we went on and my helping her by taking turns. I agree that they do take up quite a bit of room to lay them all out at once, but she found this a little overwhelming anyway. So, I grouped them up as best I could (the pictures have lots of overlap to allow building the stories). Now when she opens them, there are small sets that *could* make a somewhat logical story. I think as she gets the hang of it, we'll be able to use more and more cards. These would make an excellent Christmas gift, and just hearing my little one tell ME the story is absolutely priceless!

great for reading prep!May 04, 2009

This product is a great pre-reading idea for kids. My granddaughter loves making up her own stories. My sister is a Kindergarten teacher and she is buying a set for use in her classroom.

4yo Loves It (2yo does, too)Feb 27, 2011
By Kristy A. Sketeris I bought this for my 4yo daughter, and she loves to play with these cards. We've played several different ways, and so far the best variation for her now is to deal 5-6 random cards in the deck and allow her to re-arrange them into any order and tell her story. (Dealing out all 36 cards was a bit overwhelming for her to start with.) We take turns dealing 5-6 cards to my daughter, myself, my husband, and even my 2yo daughter (she get 3 cards) and we will all take turns telling stories. My 4yo's stories have gotten a lot more creative. My 2yo loves to hear everyone's stories, and her stories are usually just very literal accounts of what she sees on the cards. My 4yo enjoys trying to pull a story out of her by asking questions like, "But why is the owl wearing a hat??" So far, this has been a lot of fun for all four of us.

What an incredible product. The cards themselves are very durable and the artwork is adorable. We bought a set for our daughter's third birthday; we have only used them a few times but I can tell they will be a big hit and a great interactive game for us to use together. She is just coming into the age where she loves to tell stories and her imagination is running wild. I will definitely be buying other sets to compliment this one.
It also makes a great and unique gift; I purchased a second set as a gift for a 2-year-old and his parents loved it. Don't hesitate to buy this.
