It was a cinch to put together - she and her friends have used all manner of ingredients to make new geometric patterns. Unfortunately it's only made out of hard cardboard so if you change the ingredients too many times the cardboard starts to collapse. You can even replace the flowers, small rocks, or colored glass marbles with other things like shells. My only complaint-- a minor one-- is that the lid on the open end has raised concentric circles on it which show up in the image. Not a big deal; I still loved my purchase. She was very excited to make the Kaeidoscope, and we had fun doing it, but it only took about 5 minutes to put together and 5 minutes to color. The finished product is fairly delicate and has fallen apart several times my daughter has played with it. Bottom line: nice, interesting project, but probably not a great value for the money.
