4Add a standard clipboard and it's greatDec 31, 2008

On its own this toy turns out to be a bummer like the other newer versions of the spiroghraph. The gears slip under the edge of the frame and the thing creates more frustration than fun. However, I used a standard clipboard with the large metal clip and the toy works great. Put the paper and the spirogiro frame on the clipboard with the clip holding the top of the frame. Then with just a little handheld pressure on the bottom of the frame the toy is almost failproof. With this set up we haven't had a gear slip once. My 6 year old has been playing with this thing now for hours and loves it.

1DissapointmentSep 20, 2009

My 6 year old daughter received this for her birthday. She had wanted a spirograph, and this was the one we picked out. Unfortunately, this one is very cheeply made. You have to have at least three hands to attempt to make it work. You can not do it by yourself. We read the other review that said to use a clipboard. That helps, but only for one side. You need to apply pressure to all four sides to make it work. Even then it still slips. My 6 year old has gotten very frustrated trying to use it. The pens that come with it are also not very good. They are like felt tip markers, which seemed very odd to go with a spirograhp. When you continually go over the same spot, as you do with all spirographs, the markers bleed through and tear the paper. We got rid of the markers and used gel pens. Still not a good product at all. I wish who ever made the original spirograph would make it again. All the ones on the market now are just really bad imitations of the original!

1Not impressed at all.Nov 29, 2010
By Dentho
I remember playing with a mandala as a kid and this one disappointed me. As another reviewer mentioned, this product requires at least 3 hands to hold it firmly in place. My 5 year old wants to play with it and gets frustrated when the mandala moves around. I'm considering throwing it away and buying a different one!

1horrible, do not buy!Dec 22, 2010

Bought this for my 5 year old.....round disks meant to fit into notches around the round instead slip underneath holder.....totally frustrating, had my daughter in tears. Also tried using the clipboard idea, but like someone else mentioned, only held down the one side and you need 3 other hands to hold down all of the edges so that the disks do not sneak underneath! The worst toy I bought this christmas season, very cheaply made, DO NOT BUY!!!
