YES, this toy is rubbery, but that's why it's so cool. I go out of my way to try to find these rubbery toys because my daughter (and her friends) love them so much! They're kind of squishy and bouncy, making the dolphin and frogs feel very lifelike. They're perfect for the tub, pool or any out of water fun. YES, you probably shouldn't give these to a kid who will chomp their teeth into them, and if you REALLY REALLY pull or stretch on them too much, they'll break. Thomas My toddler is currently going through a frog obsession and this toy brings her great joy. It's soft and squishy and she loves throwing it and putting it on people (including herself). She likes to lay it on her face when I'm changing her and say "froggy!". I haven't had any problems with her pulling it apart or paint coming off even though she does sometimes put it in her mouth. Try explaining that to a crying 5 year old.
