It arrived fine in its packaging and had batteries installed. The batteries were dead. It was a chore to replace the batteries since the screw holding the battery compartment wouldn't come out unless I used a magnet to pull it out. I replaced the item with batteries discovering that the original batteries' wrappers were warped and falling off. I soon found out why. The batteries in the toy heated up excessively and it quickly quit working again after the battery replacement. I removed the hot batteries to find them unwrapping as well. Seriously, my kid just looked at the spinning lights for like three hours when I first handed it over to him... is that normal? ha ha... eesh...
