4Good fun for a hot dayAug 08, 2009

We really like this toy at our house! It's true that the directions indicate that the water balloon be filled to 9 cm and that this is often a bit too big to close the ball easily, but if you fill the balloons a bit less, they're fine. Also true is that if you drop the ball, the balloon may pop prematurely, but we just found this part of the fun! The idea is to get a bit wet and play around! I played this with my 8 year old son, and we had great fun. I'm not sure I would pay $20 for this toy, but the $10 range seems reasonable for some good summer fun. With a little practice, you'll be able to fill the balloon to the right size, put it into the ball easily, set the timer and have fun!

5Most fun toy EVER.. if you have a little patience :)Feb 11, 2012

I understand why some people are frustrated with the challenge of how to get the top and bottom fitted on right when you put a water balloon in. It takes some patience and sometimes takes a few tries, but for me it's absolutely worth it. I grew up with this and still remember the thrill of passing it back and forth to see who it would end up popping on. Now I use it as a fun teaching tool during the summer (mostly just as an excuse for fun, though).

The excitement of kids passing this around in a circle is unmatched on any other toy I've ever seen out there- it's so simple and the best kind of fun. I like how it can be played with two people or 20 people, and you can adapt it to whatever the event.

It does take some practice on how to do it right though- so when you have some time, try it out to get the hang of it. You'll find that the water balloons need to be a certain size (not huge), and you'll get the hang of putting the top and bottom together.

It's the type of toy that you need to be gentle with, so I always let the kids know that it needs to be passed carefully and not tossed. Sometimes the timer stops if the top and bottom pieces get jiggled out of place (this is a safety mechanism, so I really never feel bothered when it happens. I'd rather be safe than have the needle come out when the lid isn't on securly).

Overall, it's an amazing and simple toy that can last a long long time and create a ton of fun if you have patience and are careful with it. But if you're looking for something to toss around and don't like bothering with having to get the lids on exactly right sometimes, it's not for you :) . I recommend it though- everyone who's ever seen me teach with it always wants one!

This product is not worth the money. I was so disappointed in how difficult it was to put together after each balloon broke. It is NOT the toy I remember using ten or more years ago. Too bad, 'cause it's a great idea for a hot day!

My kids love playing with this but the ball comes apart alot when being tossed and timer stops if even slighltly twisted. Also if the ball is dropped the water balloon pops. I think it could have been designed better, so that the balloon didn't pop if dropped and so the ball would stay together when thrown.
