Took this to work and people come in all day long to spin it and see how long it will spin for (which is funny cause it never stops! seriously it ran all day and I had to stop it before it drilled a hole in my desk)

THE AMAZING NON-STOP TOP WITH BUILT IN LIGHT SHOW
I bought this top for my 2 yo grandson because he likes to spin everything. I was not sure at first he would be able to make the top spin but it take little effort to start the NON-STOP TOP. Once the top starts to spin it keeps in motion and spins until you stop it. Nice lighting effect and durable.

This one lives up to its name - it doesn't quit until you stop it! The grandcub had a bit of a balance issue with it at first, but started spinnng it again and again. Very durable - great light show.

Amazing light show, easy to use for small kidsFeb 21, 2012

Some other reviewers mentioned their tops work all day long. Mine only works for about 15 minutes, but that's still long enough. Watching this top work in the dark is mesmerizing; the light show will put you in a trance. The top is easy enough for a small kid to start spinning. Mine only works in a clockwise direction and the light show only works when it's spinning. I found that putting it on a paper pad also provides a hard enough surface for it to keep spinning while keeping it from drifting around and falling off the table. From an educational or skill standpoint this top doesn't teach much since it's battery-operated and the mechanism that keeps the top spinning is concealed, but it's pretty high up there on the fun scale.
If you want your kids to acquire manual dexterity, buy them a plain wood top with a cord and have them go at it the old-fashioned way. They might hit themselves in the head with the top, but it's a real physical skill they acquire and it teaches them persistence and patience. So, it's a little more dangerous -- that's life.
