5Great Toy, Great FunMar 25, 2008
By Peter Dykhuis
First let me say this is much larger then I thought. Maybe I missed it but I thought it was something that would fit in my hand. The reality is this is pretty big. It is at least a foot long when extended. My 2 year old is running around with this around his neck claiming it is his necklace right now. All three kids love this toy. The textures are fun and intriguing, the colors are vibrant. I am also impressed so far with the construction. The item definitely feels as if it could be manhandled by my kids for a while and hold up very nicely.

I recommend with no reservations.

3too big -- probably best as a baby toyDec 13, 2008
By Emily W.
I was expecting one of those little Tangles I used to play with as a kid (which I now know are the Tangle Jr., but since there's no size information in the product description, there was no way to figure that out in advance) -- something I could put in my backpack or purse to play have something to do with my hands. But this version is huge! The smallest possible circle (four links) slips right over my hand like a bracelet that's a bit too big. It is still fun to twist around, but I don't think I'll be using it anywhere but my room.

I do think this is a good baby toy though. The package says it has small parts and isn't suitable for children under 3 years, but I took the links apart and haven't found anything small enough to choke on. I think it would appeal to babies old enough to grasp objects because of the bright colors and textures, and even if you just pick it up with one hand and wave it around a bit, the other links move around in interesting ways.

---

UPDATE: I eventually gave this to a 2.5-year-old (after I'd had it for over two years), and he absolutely loves it, although he did somehow manage to break one of the connectors between the pieces within a few days, but he's just as happy with it as a rope as he was with it as a loop. He is just strong enough to pull the segments apart, but can't put them back together on his own, although he does understand how they fit together and finds it quite amusing to take them apart and have me put them back together.

4Keeps busy hands still!May 18, 2011

This is a large toy as other reviewers said. If you're looking for something to fiddle with in front of the TV or on the phone, this is a good choice. It's large and easy to find in your house. If you're looking for something small that you can take to work or on a plane that can fit in a small bag, go for the 'junior' version of this which is smaller. This item is pretty bulky and probably wouldn't travel well for that reason. I bought it for my 3-year old daughter to keep her hands busy to help explain to her that she can use her hands for fun things instead of hitting which is our newest hurdle. It does keep her hands busy and her out of trouble, at least for a little while. It's good for her to play with in the car or at a store. The individual pieces do come apart but you have to pull hard so I haven't shown her this, otherwise the pieces would be everywhere. She likes to wear it as a necklace or a bracelet, too and it's fun for me to fiddle with while I watch her play. Overall, it does what it's supposed to do.

4great but the pieces come apartJun 05, 2010
By Bridget Marsh Insana
This is great for my son. it gives his hands something to do when he has to sit still for something. However, I didn't realize that the pieces come apart so easily and so now I have to make sure it is never on the floor as I have a one year old as well.So it's good for my 5 yr old but be aware that when the pieces separate they can be a choking hazard for young ones.

3What do you do with a Tangle?Aug 12, 2009
By Barrett
So we pulled it out of the box and my son grabbed it and manipulated it and twisted it and everything. It seemed like it was going to be a hit, but then he put it down...never to be played with again. To be fair, it is a pretty cool looking toy and I've enjoyed trying to get him interested in it. I'll give it that much, but it was me having all the fun with my son and I could have been doing that with or without the tangle.
