Travel light with a small Etch-A-Sketch. This one measures 6.25 by 5.38 inches but looks and works just like the original, down to the white knobs. Its TV-screen drawing area is made as it has always been. The glass is covered with a protective plastic film inside the sturdy red case. Images are made with nontoxic aluminum powder. But who cares about Etch-A-Sketch technology when there are so many possibilities, once you've advanced beyond pure architectural representations? It takes fine finger control and concentration to operate but draws in people of all ages. --Lynne Sampson

5Great for Car TravelApr 14, 2000

This is a timeless toy - this size is great for traveling, it keeps little hands busy and is QUIET! It's also sturdy and doesn't have little parts to drop and roll under the seat.

5great toy for long car tripsMay 30, 2000

My boys both have one of these, because we take long trips home to see the grandparents. They love them. They both with them for quite a while before wanting to move on to something else. Good bang for the buck!

1Broken upon arrivalAug 23, 2010

I ordered this for my toddler to play with on the airplane. However, you can barely see the lines, and it won't erase the pathetic lines that are on it. I was counting on this, and the manufacturer and seller let me down.

3Great for 2 weeks, until it was dropped on a carpeted floorDec 13, 2010
By SunsetDweller
My kids used this more or less daily for 2 weeks straight, as a car toy. The regular size Etch a Sketch was a bit too big to cram into my purse when we went to restaurants, so I purchased this one. It seemed like a good value until my kid dropped it (about 3 feet drop) unto a carpeted floor. One of the knobs popped off and because the plastic broke, I could not get it back on. Being able to control only one direction of etching gets old after about 20 seconds. We tried to superglue the part back on, but it still did not work. Off to the landfill. Too bad - if the manufacturer had just invested a few more pennies to make this more durable, it could have been a terrific travel toy. Would not recommend - stick with the larger size if you can.

2Not made like they used to beAug 23, 2011

I bought 3 of these for gifts for my daughter, aged 7 and 2 granddaughters, aged 3&4. Everyone of them stopped working in less than 3 months. And, these things aren't cheap anymore, just cheaply made!
