They both love it and worked on it together. They are 5 & 6 1/2 yrs. old. Will always buy Ravenburger puzzles. Ravensburger does it againJan 02, 2012 By Dienne It's hard to beat Ravensburger quality. Although the pieces are cardboard, they are thicker and sturdier than most cardboard jigsaw puzzle pieces. The pieces are all distinct and they fit together neatly so there is no question that you've made a correct match. No weird shaped pieces that you have to line up but not interlock or pieces that you have to wonder if you've made the correct match. When the puzzle is completed, you can easily pick it up and the pieces will remain interlocked until you intentionally break them apart. The picture on this puzzle is also beautiful. The colors are bright and engaging for youngsters, but also artistic enough for adults to enjoy too. There are quite a number of fish in this puzzle, which means that there is no one central thing to focus on building. Each fish takes up approximately 2 to 6 pieces. Also, quite a few of the fish are clownfish, so finding pieces that look like clownfish doesn't guarantee that the pieces will go in a certain place. These factors make it rather difficult to distribute the pieces to their approximate locations. For instance, with many puzzles, the blue pieces can be put at the top for the sky, the green at the bottom for the grass, etc. For better or worse, this puzzle doesn't work like that. On the other hand, however, the pieces are bright enough and have distinct enough colors that it's easy enough to figure out which pieces go together. This is a great puzzle for the junior puzzle lover. We got it for Christmas for our three-year-old and it's just a bit out of her reach without help, but with help it's perfect for her. The pieces are a nice size for her hands. Our older daughter (age 5) can put it together fairly quickly on her own. Both girls really like jigsaw puzzles, and we'll be buying more Ravensburger puzzles in the future.
