Most Helpful Customer Reviews 1 of 1 found the following review helpful: geoboard from particle board covered with laminate-like materialFeb 28, 2012 By Krista This is a geoboard made of particleboard (some material similar to that used to make laminated kitchen countertop) NOT wood. The upper surface is covered with black laminate material (again similar to laminates used for fabricating kitchen countertops). The edges are beveled particle board and are not covered by any material, hence they are rough and with some wood particles coming off with use. Brass pins are pretty strong and aesthetic and work well for keeping rubber bands in place. I am not entirely happy with the rough beveled edges of this geoboard. Information in product description was misleading indicating that this is wooden geoboard (which this is not). Low price and the fact that the geoboard has been made in USA may remediate these drawbacks. However, I wish that there was more information available regarding this product upon making decision to purchase it. In addition, it took for a long time for the seller to ship the item. I bought this for 3-year old son and he has not really caught on the idea of geoboard. This may change. He likes to make some limited shapes and then does not want to destroy these shapes. As for geoboard idea (similar to other toys with limited number pieces ), it seems that a bigger geoboard with more pins to make many patterns without destroying them would be more interesting for little ones (who are not used to recording their creations in notebooks).
