Board slots are too SMALLMar 07, 2011
By Aaron Two major things wrong with this Mancala game - the first and more minor is that the box clearly shows multiple color beads but in the actual game they are just blue and brown. Sucky, not as pretty to look at but doesn't affect game play.
A bigger deal, and I think makes it defective, is that the slots where the beads go are way too SMALL. It's impossible to play without having to try to make them fit somehow - balance them or keep them on the side. There isn't enough room for the game to be fun. The board sucks - either beads should be smaller or holes bigger.

consider other optionsNov 18, 2009
By belloo I bought this board and mine arrived slightly cracked with a weird funky knot in one of the indents. The pieces are too big for the indents and scatter EVERYWHERE if you have more than six or seven in one spot. I guess that's what you get for $6

My Favorite GameJun 27, 2011
By Shannon I absolutely love Mancala. You hear it a lot, but it really is an easy game to learn and depending on your opponent presents new challenges every time. It's simple with not a lot of rules or confusing pieces. Great game for all ages and the difficulty level grows as you do.

Simple, yet fun gameApr 20, 2011

Mancala is easy to learn and fun for kids and adults. In fact, kids can play with adults and still have a chance at winning! It's a good way for kids to learn how to count, as well. But it seems the little cups are too small to hold excessive glass beads and they overflow. I would recommend this game for a change of pace from those games with plastic pieces and spinners or die.

Hours of fun!Feb 23, 2011
By Ruth-Ann McKellin Mancala is a brain-stimulator. More than that, it is fun! Our whole family enjoys the game and plays it frequently. "What game should we play tonight?" "Mancala!" Only two can play at a time, so the person who grabs it off the shelf first chooses his/her opponent and the others have to pick another game and then trade. My 8-year-old beats me frequently, which is really annoying!
I like the quality of the board, the glass pieces are smooth to the touch and pretty. I saw this game at the Epcot center at Disneyland in the African area, its place of origin. This set is clearly more practical (folding and storage of pieces), but the game is the same.
